Time is on my side, yes it is. ~ The Rolling Stones Are we cursed by time? It often seems that way. There never seems to be enough of it, but on the other hand it passes too quickly. We are constantly dreaming about ways to speed it up, slow it down, manage it, or manipulate it to better serve us. Do we ever stop to imagine what life would be like without good ole father time? Are we prepared to live an existence without the measurement of hours, days, years, it gives us? I think it is finally time to stop stressing about time. Why? Well because it is here to serve us and until we understand its value it will continue to be part of this earthly experience. How is time serving us? Well here are a few ways I can think of that may help you to better appreciate the value of time- 1. Time heals. Lucky for us time gives us a sense of distance from painful experiences such as loss of a loved one or a traumatic event. Time does seem to have a healing effect. As months and years pass grief and painful emotions naturally lessen their grip on us. 2. Time calls us to action. Although we are far too often caught up in the frustration of feeling limited by time, such as when we're in a hurry to meet a deadline, time gives us parameters and prompting. It helps us to plan out the execution of important goals in a way that encourages completion. The results we get at the end of tight timelines often give us some of the greatest feelings of achievement as we prove to ourselves just what we are capable of. 3. Time marches on. With time comes wisdom. We learn to leave the trouble of the past behind and embrace whatever may come our way. Time gives us continuous opportunities to fix mistakes, learn new things, and leave our foot print on this world. 4. Time stands still. If we are lucky we get to experience the phenomenon of time standing still. This happens when we are truly present to the moment we’re in and fully engaged in what is taking place around us. Being present makes us feel as though hours have been experienced in just a few short minutes. Very cool indeed and a nice contrast to the feeling of limitation time often presents us with. 5. Time protects us from ourselves. Now, if you believe like I do, that ours thoughts create our realities, then you can more clearly see how time protects us. We often grow impatient when what we wish for, imagine, and work towards just doesn’t seem to show up fast enough. Perhaps this is because we are not managing the quality of the thoughts our mind entertains. Those hopes and dreams of ours are typically mixed up in a bag along side of our insecurities, doubts, and fears. Can you imagine if time no longer existed and we could manifest all our thoughts into reality instantaneously? We'd just as quickly manifest our fears as well. What a disaster that would be for the existence of our species! With the help of time, however, we are more able to course correct our thinking to create better, or at least more neutral, outcomes. Perhaps, once we have mastered our minds, there will be no need for time and therefore it will cease to exist but for now let’s be grateful that time…truly is… on our side!
