It is hard to deny that we are experiencing the effects of the most confusing time in history…and yes…I venture to even say the most challenging time in history. Everyday we are presented with stories of political, social, economic, and even nature’s unrest. Simultaneously we are also witnessing the most amazing advances in our capacity to create technology and express compassion for one another when disaster strikes. The contrast surfacing in our human experience is shocking to say the least, it leaves us wondering how good and evil can co-exist so intimately in our shared time-space reality. Have we completely lost our grip or could this chaos be the result of a more perfect plan for our species? Tickets please... Let’s imagine for a moment that what we believe to be chaos is just the effects of some thrill ride at an amusement park. The kind of ride that starts off slow but continuously moves faster and faster and is now travelling at unprecedented speeds. Naturally, our bodies are having a tough time acclimating. The upset in our equilibrium makes everything feel fuzzy and distorted. We might even feel as though the ground is dropping out from under us. Take this picture and apply it to our current state of affairs. Is what we are currently experiencing as a civilization truly chaos or is it the quickening of our human evolution? Despite our minds being trained to think of time as linear, with a concrete beginning and end, there are many examples that point to the possibility that time is more circular in nature. We have all heard of the saying “history repeats itself” and indeed I believe this to be partially true. Imagine that this loop of peace, struggle, growth…peace, struggle, growth…that we humans appear to trapped in, is not a loop but rather a spiral or more accurately, a funnel. Each go-around on this funnel of time represents a shorter revolution. Each go-around brings its familiar lessons of peace, struggle, and growth to each of us in faster and faster succession. Each go-around is another yet opportunity to bring more knowledge and understanding to the challenges we face as a society but because we are moving increasingly faster the pressure is reaching epic levels of intensity. Now if time represents the funnel, imagine that humanity represents the object traveling down through the funnel, like a coin collected in one of those coin drop donation funnels. Each coin has a “heads” and “tails” side, right? Let’s say, for this example, those sides represent our human capacity for love and hate. Brace yourself... As this coin picks up speed in the funnel it also rotates between heads and tails. What used to appear a longer, more drawn out expression of these human tendencies, as seen throughout history with eras of progress and strife, are now displaying themselves nanoseconds apart. We were once that coin at the wide opening of that funnel, making a lazy orbit, but we are now nearing the narrow spout where everything is a whirl of motion. In this tight space we are forced to acknowledge and accept both faces of our humanity. We can no longer deny the existence of the duality that exists within each one of us. It is mirrored in our daily lives by what we see in the news. We feel it so intensely. Scared? Heck yeah, of course we are! We know on some instinctual level that we are nearing the end of that funnel of time. The bottom really is falling out of this ride and we are left only to trust that we are moving to a better place yet to explore. We are being re-birthed and the time we are currently in represents the pains of labor. So go ahead, pick heads or tails! What side do you want that coin to land on? It is essential right now to choose wisely, learn at last in this eleventh hour to forgive and accept an one another. Let the choice for love be the basis for this new reality we are spinning towards. Visit me at tracicrampton.com

I am always fascinated when I see interviews with 100 year olds and they are asked that infamous question, "What do you think is the secret to a long life?" Their answers are so full of range and often lacking is the expected response, "Well, I eat a balanced diet and exercise everyday." In search of the Fountain of Youth... Even those of us who find it a constant struggle to maintain a healthy lifestyle secretly hope that eating right and exercise are the keys to staying young, Why is that? Well maybe because it's the one approach that appears to give us control. It's relatively straightforward, well researched, and measurable. Surprisingly however, these centenarians often tell us outlandish tales of their two-pack-a-day habits and reckless sky-diving-type behavior that in our minds should have done them in decades ago. It goes against all logic that they have reached that 100 mark and are still of sound enough mind to get in front of a camera to share their secrets with us. While their responses to the "What is the fountain of youth?" question swing from being very general to very specific, I am struck most by what is often an underlying common thread in their statements. You must listen carefully to catch it because the true message lies in the spaces between their actual words. That common thread is this.. the secret to a long life is the ability to live each day as if it is your first...not your last. These eternally youthful souls seem to have an innate capacity to recognize that all of life is a series of re-births, each day giving us another opportunity to hit the reset button and experience life anew. So how can we take this wisdom and break it down so that we too can experience this daily renewal? That Darwin fella was on to something... Now, I don't wish to sound too "it's a dog-eat-dog world" here, but I think that Darwin was onto something much more relatable with his whole "survival of the fittest" business. A crucial piece of his teachings gets lost on us amongst all of the "genetic mutation theory and the propagation of species" rhetoric and that is that the key to remaining alive and forever youthful is adaption. Let's, for a moment, set aside all of the complexities we learned about adaption theories in high school and think of adaption in a much more practical way. What if we all became more consciously adaptable in our daily lives? What would that look like? Conscious adaption means that when we are faced with choices that require us to either hold on to our old ways of being or adopt new ways of being, we pick the choice that encourages life above all else. With conscious adaption we recognize that life is not a line from start to finish but a circle (a "life cycle") within which contains many smaller cycles of beginnings and endings. When we acknowledge these mini-deaths and re-births as a way of life it becomes easier for us to decide what needs to be shed (death), what needs to persist (labor), and what needs to be created (birth) in order to keep our life force strong. Live to tell your story... Conscious adaption asks that we be like the willow tree, strong but flexible, always willing to bend with the forces of nature so that we don't break. It tells us not to resist change when change is what's called for. It encourages us to remain as curious as a child, delighting in learning new things. It requires us to be forever open-minded to new possibilities and observant to solutions that naturally arise out of every problem. As we adapt we are constantly re-birthing and aligning to the vibration and frequency that our modern world is operating from. When we fail to adapt, be it from stubbornness or ignorance, we naturally fall behind. Aging too soon being the unwanted result. So yes, of course, eat your salads, move your body, and get your 8 hours of sleep but don't forget to keep a mindset of renewal everyday. Don't cling to what no longer serves you in this forever-changing world we live in. Be around 100 years from now to share your unique story! Visit me at tracicrampton.com. 1. Listen to your gut I'm here to tell you that sometimes you need to ask your head and your heart to step aside for a moment. Truth is they are not always the best guides when it comes to making decisions. Why is that? Well because your brain wants to over-analyze, debate, and create an endless list of pros and cons that can riddle you with doubt and delay you from taking timely action. Your heart, on the other hand, is in search of the most comfortable feeling state which is not always going to get you to a better place. Your gut however, is your power center. It is strongly connected to our Solar plexus chakra, the energy vortex that gives us the will to create in this world. So listen to those butterflies of excitement that arise deep in your torso, even if they feel a bit like fear. Those butterflies are telling you that you are in alignment with that choice. However, if you experience more of a sinking feeling it is a sign to steer clear of that choice. Gut sensations are very helpful in giving you real-time guidance towards the path best suited for you! 2. Clear the static Do what you need to do to adopt a positive mindset. Meditate, go for a walk in nature, watch some inspirational speakers on YouTube. Whatever bag of tricks you use to get you from that place of self-doubt and fear to a place of confidence and possibility ....use them! This is essential before you take any action if you want that action to produce results. 3. Ask for neon signs I'm sure that those of you reading this are familiar with the age-old advice of asking the Universe to provide a sign. Unfortunately, most of us have not yet learned how to fully harness this incredible technique. We ask vaguely for a sign to come but chances are we miss it when it does or question its validity because we never set up the proper parameters. Next time you seek a clear, unmistakable sign to help guide a decision why not give that sign a symbol and a time frame. For example, rather than the usual, "Universe please give me a sign!" why not try something more along the lines of "Universe please show me a yellow balloon (or insert another somewhat uncommon symbol here) within the next 24 hours if I am meant to do xyz." Chances are much better that your sign will arrive and you will have no doubt that it is giving you the guidance you asked for without waiting and wondering for eternity. Want to learn more about how to ask for signs check out one of my favorite books on asking for signs, Sacred Signs, by Adrian Calabrese, PhD. 4. Leap Trust that you will land on your feet! Trust that this benevolent Universe has your back! If you've listened to your gut, cleared the static, and received your signs chances are you are making the right decision, but if you find out that you've messed up trust that you will get another chance to course-correct and get it right. There is magic in action, so like they say, "Strike when the iron is hot." Don't wait around waiting for more and more evidence. Put everything you have in you into taking that next step and watch the miracles happen. 5. Give thanks Gratitude has a way of expanding what we want. So if you've made a decision and have taken the first step down some new path why not pause a moment to give the Universe thanks. Say thanks for helping me to find the courage (even if you still feel shaky), thanks for supplying for all my needs (even if your bank account says $7.11), and thanks for bringing me amazing results (even if you are a long way from your destination). Happy decision-making! Visit me at tracicrampton.com. |
